Wentworth is a dynamic, often confronting, drama series that begins with Bea’s early days in prison. Set in the present day, it is a modern adaptation of Prisoner contemporising legendary characters and their stories for today’s audience. This ten-part series takes the viewer inside to an uncompromising environment exploring the politics of women in a world without men, and how such a threatening experience both challenges and often changes those confined and working behind the razor wire.
The series tells about a secret womenâ€™s prison Wentworth in Australia, in which criminals serving sentences of all categories. Viewers learn about how they got there, their life in prison, and that this will be followed, met with prison staff: learn about their immediate work and personal life.
In season two, the Wentworth story picks up three months after Bea Smith killed Jacs Holt. Liz Birdsworth, Doreen Anderson and Sue â€˜Boomerâ€™ Jenkins are still serving time, and while Bea has been languishing in the slot, Franky Doyle has risen to the position of top dog unopposed. The sudden arrival of new Governor Joan Ferguson is about to change all that. Fergusonâ€™s mandate is to clean up Wentworth and restore order at any cost to the inmates and her staff â€“ Deputy Governor Vera Bennett and Corrections Officers Matthew â€˜Fletchâ€™ Fletcher and Will Jackson.
The events take place in a closed womenâ€™s prison in Australia called Wentworth. The employee and the prisoners fall into an epicenter of exciting events. Prisoners have its own code of survival in the Wentworth and if someone upset the rules it may threaten a death. Each episode tells the life story of one character who went to prison. In this season Vera and Ferguson will be responsible for the attack for Bea, and Frankie's past will haunt her. Liz will testify against Sonia, but later she will regret about it. Frankie and Brigitte want to preserve their relationship and will try to do it. Frankie wants to escape, but this can lead to fatal consequences. Liz must to defend herself.
